Evidence that the U.S. petitioner or financial sponsor is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. USCIS Form I-130 instructions require the petitioner to prove status. Later Affidavit of Support and Embassy Islamabad family-based checklists also require proof of each financial sponsor’s legal status.
Why it may be required
USCIS will not approve Form I-130 without qualifying petitioner status evidence. NVC and Embassy Islamabad also list proof of sponsor status with Affidavit of Support materials for family-based cases.
Who normally needs it
The U.S. petitioner filing Form I-130, the petitioner who is also the financial sponsor on Form I-864, and any joint sponsor whose Form I-864 is required. Exact acceptable documents are listed in the current USCIS Form I-130 and Form I-864 instructions.
Where Pakistani applicants can obtain it
Documents the person already holds (for example a U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization, U.S. birth certificate, or Permanent Resident Card), as listed in the official USCIS instructions for the form being filed.
