A Nikah Nama is the Muslim marriage contract registered by a Nikah Registrar. The Department of State explains that the registrar submits a copy to the local government authority, which then issues the Marriage Registration Certificate.
Why it may be required
It is the underlying record used to obtain an MRC. Consular or NVC instructions may ask for marriage evidence; follow the document list in CEAC and the embassy checklist.
Who normally needs it
Muslim applicants whose marriage was contracted through a Nikah Nama.
Where Pakistani applicants can obtain it
The Nikah Registrar and the local government authority that keeps the registered copy. Applicants obtain the MRC from the local government authority by presenting the Nikah Nama, according to the reciprocity page.
General application process
If the marriage is not yet registered, the Nikah Registrar should register it with the local government authority. If it is already registered, request the MRC from that authority.
Common documents required
The Department of State describes four original Nikah Namas signed and stamped by the registrar, with copies for the local authority, each spouse, and the registrar.
City / province information

Important notes
A Nikah Nama alone is not automatically the same as a computerized Marriage Registration Certificate. Confirm what the current NVC/embassy instructions request.
