Divorce Registration Certificate

The Department of State names the Divorce Registration Certificate as the Pakistan divorce civil document, issued by Union Councils, Municipal Corporations, the CDA, and Cantonment Boards.

The Islamabad supplement requires previously married applicants to bring an original divorce or spouse’s death certificate with an English translation and photocopy.

Applicants or petitioners with a prior marriage that ended in divorce.

Follow the local government / Arbitration Council process described by the Department of State. For immigration purposes, the reciprocity page states a Muslim divorce in Pakistan is only considered valid upon completion of a 90-day period after notice of divorce is delivered to the Union Council.

The certificate indicates Talaq or Khula. Copies of arbitration notices should be available upon request, according to the reciprocity page.
