Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)

NADRA issues the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). NADRA also issues NICOP for overseas Pakistanis and POC for persons of Pakistani origin.
Why it may be required
CNIC is the core Pakistani identity document used to obtain many civil and police records. Police certificates are tied to the province listed on the CNIC, according to the Department of State.
Who normally needs it
Pakistani applicants obtaining local civil or police documents. Follow NVC/embassy lists for whether a CNIC copy itself must be uploaded.
Where Pakistani applicants can obtain it
NADRA centres or official NADRA digital channels published at nadra.gov.pk.
General application process
Follow NADRA’s official CNIC/NICOP process. Fees and biometrics requirements should be confirmed on the NADRA website.
Common documents required
NADRA identity-registration rules. Confirm current supporting documents with NADRA; this site does not invent them.

Important notes
The reciprocity page states certified copies of the CNIC are not available, and that POC holders still need a valid passport.
